County-Level Resolutions
We understand community members are concerned about where industrial scale wind and solar developments may be placed. (e.g. how close to your property).
Signed land is public record, and can be accessed as below.
Go to your county’s website (Usually it is something like: www. your county name. gov)
Under the Register of Deeds section, look for a Land Records link
Documents recorded in the Register of Deeds Office can be viewed and printed for a fee using LandShark or Tapestry. LandShark and Tapestry are web-based tools for the location and retrieval of land record documents.
In LandShark or Tapestry: Search for the map of the Wind/Solar Company, then click on the transaction number, you will get a list of parcels, then by clicking on Tax Records you can even view a map of each of the parcels that’s been signed.
Note: There is no minimum number of days in which a Developer is required to file with the Register of Deeds. The Developer can hold off on filing the documents as long as they wish.
It is the practice of Farmland First to be respectful to all landowners.
We ask that you be respectful as well.
